Summit or nothing?

Posted on February 16th 2016

This wonderful piece was spotted by the hawk-eyed Brian Minards on the web today and he’s adapted the famous Sound of Music lyrics to mark the occasion. Many thanks B. Another example of how the English language has gone down the ‘pan’ or should, as my parents taught me to say, use the word, ‘lavatory.’

‘I’VE MADE IT!!!! After 1600 miles, 155 days and over 3.5 million steps, I’ve now become the first person ever to traverse the length of Madagascar whilst summiting its 8 highest mountains. It’s pushed me to extreme limits and I’ve stared death in the face on a number of occasions but I endured and persevered through the pain to the finish. But then – nothing worth while ever comes easy!

Summit every mountain,

Search high and low,

Follow every byway,

Every path you know.

Summit every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
‘Till you find your dream.

A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life
For as long as you live.

Summit every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
Till you find your dream

A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life,
For as long as you live.

Summit every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
Till you find your dream.

Julie Andrews eat your heart out!
